· Less than a month after Universal pulled financing from Paul Greengrass’ Martin Luther King Jr. assassination film Memphis, the director has landed on his feet. Not only will he push Memphis back a year with the hopes of finalizing some more financing in the coming months, but he’ll also direct a new project in the interim. Deadline reports that Greengrass may take on The Deep Blue Good-by, an adaptation of the pulpy John D. MacDonald crime novel that launched the character Travis McGee, beach bum and unlicensed private investigator. Even better? Leonardo DiCaprio is producing via his company Appian Way, and the film was initially developed as a potential star vehicle for him.
